3 UK is the latest mobile phone network in the UK to confirm that it will be selling the Desire, HTC’s own take on the Google Nexus one smartphone, in spring 2010 in store, online and via its telesales team.

Spring starts on the 20th of March, which is in less than five weeks from now. T-Mobile has confirmed that it will be shipping it as from March, while the rest of the major mobile phone networks said they will sell it in April.

The Hutchinson-Whampoa company therefore joins O2, T-Mobile, Vodafone and Orange which means that all the major UK networks will be able to offer HTC’s flagship Android device.

Sylvia Chind, head of branded devices at 3, said in the press release that “HTC is producing some fantastic internet phones at the moment, and are really leading the pack.”

She added that “Like us, they really understand what consumers want from the internet on their phone – a flexible and intuitive interface, coupled with a reliable 3G network that offers a strong and speedy connection.”

Three is likely to position the phone at the top end of the spectrum. Its £35 internet texter comes with unlimited internet, texts, 3-to-3 minutes, Skype calls and Windows Live plus 750 anytime, any network minutes.

Additionally, the Desire will also get a Twitter and Facebook applications to boot from. You can read more about why we think that the latest Android phone from HTC will be a better model than the Google Nexus One.
