Xbox 720 to take on the PlayStation 4 in mysterious May event

Xbox fans are set for a big announcement on May 21st according to Microsoft.

The new Xbox 360 console is expect to be called the Xbox 720 and will most likely be ready to go on sale for Christmas.

The new console from Microsoft will complete with Sony’s Playstation 4. Although both consoles are fighting off competition from iPhone and iPad games.

Both consoles are also expecting to become living room ‘hubs’, where users will be able to watch TV and stream music, even looking through Facebook photos.

The event where the announcement is due to be made is at Microsoft’s Redmond, WAshington, headquarters.

Microsoft says that the announcement event will be streamed on and on Xbox Live and on Spike TV in the US and Canada.

Xbox spokesperson Major Nelson wrote on his official blog, “On Tuesday May 21st, we’ll mark the beginning of a new generation of games, TV and entertainment.

‘On that day, we’ll be holding a special press event on the Xbox campus and we invite you to join us via the live global stream that will be available on, Xbox LIVE and broadcast on Spike TV if you are in the US or Canada.

‘On that day, we’ll share our vision for Xbox, and give you a real taste of the future.

‘Then, 19-days later at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in Los Angeles, we’ll continue the conversation and showcase our full lineup of blockbuster games.”
